Hotel Muse: Review of an Affordable Bangkok Gem
You never really know what to expect when you book a new hotel. Traveling quite a bit in Southeast Asia, it’s been a mix of disappointing and impressive hotel stays.
While the Hotel Muse could use an update in some of its rooms, the decor in the lobby, the rooftop bar, pool and gym make up for it. Plus, I continue to be surprised by the value and affordability of 4 and 5-star hotels, like the Muse. We paid around $130 a night!
I’d definitely stay there again on my next trip to Bangkok.

Hotel Muse: Location in Bangkok
Hotel Muse Bangkok, part of Marriott’s Autograph Collection, is a five-star boutique property nestled in the upscale Langsuan area.
If you’re coming from the airport, it’s a short walk from Chit Lom BTS (subway/metro) station, and within easy reach of Siam, Sukhumvit, and Sathorn districts.
The hotel is walkable to massive shopping mall complexes, and the bustling Pratunam Night Market.
A Blend of Glamour & Local Heritage
The Hotel Muse goes all-in on its 1920s theme.
The hotel blends European glamour with Thai decor, described as “Victorian with a modern colonial twist” in one write-up.
I love the high archways in the lobby, which lead to the front desk and sitting areas.
You’ll find dark mahogany, leather sofas, and marble accents throughout.
I’m not a fan of the photography used in their marketing (which you’ll see in the elevators) because it lacks the class you’ll experience on an actual visit.
Rooms & Suites at The Muse
Hotel Muse houses 174 rooms and suites, including deluxe options, Yama Executive Rooms on the top floors, and the Paranim Penthouse.
The upper floor rooms have large windows, giving guests views of the city. The rooms are spacious, with chairs and desks.
Some of the bathrooms could use an upgrade, but they’re definitely clean.
- Yama Executive Rooms: Found on the upper floors, these rooms offer king beds, oversize tubs, walk-in showers—and come with complimentary evening cocktails and canapés at the Speakeasy for select bookings.
- Paranim Penthouse: A lavish 216 sqm suite featuring a living room, dining room, full kitchen, and multiple balconies—ideal for hosting or indulgent stays.
My complaint about The Muse and too many hotels I’ve stayed at this year is: there’s no coffee machine in the room. I’m not asking for anything fancy! A Nespresso, a Keurig, a Mr. Coffee … anything!
To be fair, The Muse offers a French press. While I enjoy a press, I don’t want to deal with the hassle in a hotel room. It just leaves another thing for the staff to have to clean when I leave!
The Speakeasy Rooftop Bar
The Muse has a great rooftop bar, called the Speakeasy, on the 24th floor. The theme seems to be 1920s European jazz club.
In addition to the panoramic skyline views, you’ll find interesting cocktails, each of which comes with a story. I love the way they’re served, too. Each comes with a special piece. The Hemingway comes on a typewriter. Even a glass of wine comes in a glass jar you’d find expensive whiskey stored in.

The Pool at The Muse
Even if you’re not going for a swim, go check out the beautiful pool on the 19th floor.
The views are great, and it’s surrounded by plenty of lounge chairs if you’re looking to relax in nice weather.
I was also impressed by the adjacent gym.
My Review of The Hotel Muse
Hotel Muse offers tranquillity while remaining within walking distance of shopping, nightlife, and services like massages. Right next door, you can get a foot massage for $10, and they’re open until midnight!
While The Muse is in a huge building, walking inside gave me more of a boutique feel.
There’s nothing generic about this hotel. They have a theme, and they go for it.
The staff is beyond friendly and helpful, the public spaces are very well-done, and the price is impressive for a 5-star … so I’ll definitely be returning to this gem from a bygone era!
